At PPG, the safety of our employees and customers is our number one priority. To support the well-being of our training team and customers during this challenging time, we have decided to postpone all scheduled training classes through April 30th.
When comparing prices of paint brands, it's always important to consider the additional components needed such as catalyst or reducer that make it ready to spray RTS. Comparing only can-to-can prices can be deceiving.
PPG Suspends Training Classes through April 30th in Response to COVID-19
Some products may appear to cost less on the surface, but the actual RTS cost may be greater because of the product's mix ratio. Keep this in mind when comparing prices of all products, not just color. From the front office to the mix room to the paint booth, PPG empowers you to perfect every stage of color matching.

Though it does intensive math calculations, it is a close estimator and enables the user to approximate the amount of paint required for a given wall, based on parameters entered. Pay close attention to the instructions and options.
It calculates the square footage of surfaces requiring paint, less that area occupied by doors or windows. It assumes the average door is 21 square feet in surface and the average window is 16 square feet. If your doors and windows are smaller than that or larger than that, you may use fractions such as 1. It assumes that application paint goes on at about square feet per gallon and square feet for base paint; you may change either or both if you wish.
It also assumes walls are smooth but allows for standard texturing or heavy texturing. It takes into consideration spraying, which takes slightly more paint than the alternatives, brushing or rolling, either of which requires roughly the same quantity of paint but less than spraying. It considers one or two application coats and assumes no base coat.
The algorithm for the base coat is slightly different based no pun intended on the different composition of base coat paint; it also allows for a different price. NOTE: The square footage of the wall is based on the actual measurements. If you wish to use a base coat of a different type of paint, check the base coat box. If you are in an exceptionally arid or desert environment, creating a very dry condition 80 percent of the year, check the dry climate box.
Enter the cost of the paint per gallon for the application and for the base coat, if used; the total prices of the paints required are calculated. You may also enter labor cost per hour and the estimated number of hours; or your may enter 1 hour and the prices estimate for the labor for the entire job. To do another, click the Clear Values button and then enter a new set of values. You may also wish to just change certain fields and recalculate; however, remember that you MUST click Calculate after each modification or group of modifications prior to seeing the corrected final values.

How to blend colors? With this Acrylic Pouring Paint Calculator, you can quickly figure out how much paint needed for the size of the canvas that you have including the edges and round format canvases! This tool helps to minimize the waste of paint as well as prevents the uncovered corners when you mix not enough.
I have designed this acrylic pouring paint calculator based on my personal experience and lots of experimenting with different formulas.
Please note, that these are approximate calculationsand many factors are affecting the amount of paint needed to cover the canvas read more below. Pouring Technique.
If you are going to do a lot of tilting to stretch cells, rings, or any other elements, you would need more paint. If you are going to do very little to no tilting like for swipe, straw blown flowersor dutch pourless paint mixture is needed.
Base Layer. Consistency of Paint. This calculation is right for an average approximately warm-honey like consistency. If you prefer to work with thinner consistency you would need less paint mixture, and with thicker — more. But for now, please let me know how this acrylic pouring paint calculator works for you. I hope that it helps you save paint, time, and effort. Awesome tool Olga. I have one suggestion, for the depth size.
I pretty sure someone will ask how to configure lol. What you do for the people new and experienced is Awesome!!! You rock!!! Thank you Olga, your calculator is so useful. Thank you, Maureen! I really hope that it will be useful for many beginners, plus I added the calculation in centimeters and ml, so I hope to make it suitable for people from all over the world. Hi Olga. Thanks very much for the awesome calculator tool. It came very handy today. Doing my first canvas order tonight.
This is the approximate number just to give you a starting point, and you might need more or less depending on the technique. Did you have a chance to give this calculator a try? Hi Olga, I have your Paint Calculator on my computer short cuts. Whenever I am doing a larger than usual canvas, I come straight here and check that I have the right amount of paint. Love it, thank you. Hi Rob, this is the best compliment for me! Thank you so much, happy to hear you find it helpful. This is fantastic.
It helps a ton with knowing how much paint to use to not waste it all as a beginner. I assume the result is given in fluid ounces, not as weight, correct?
Hi Nate, yes, the results are given in fluid ounces. Do you add any medium to the white paint you put down first?Paint Coverage: Start by entering the paint coverage in square feet per gallon.
This can vary significantly based on many factors such as spraying vs. However, when spraying, your paint coverage will be less. How much less is a tough question because it depends on the experience of the painter, the wind conditions, etc.
On our last fence project, we sprayed and our actual coverage was right at square feet per gallon. In our experience, you can anticipate somewhere in the range of to square feet per gallon when spraying. Picket Width: Enter the width of the fence picket in inches.
This will vary from fence-to-fence as there are many shapes and sizes. However, a common board size sold at hardware stores is the 6-in x 6-ft dog-ear picket. The actual width for this common board is 5. The default for this calculator has been set to 5. Gap Between Pickets: Enter the width of the gap between pickets in inches. If your fence boards are butted up next to each other and there is little or no substantial gap between them, then set this value to zero.
Otherwise enter the spacing between pickets. Enter Fence Sections: For each run of fence, enter the length and height of the fence section. For both the length and height, there are two input boxes: one for entering the measurement in feet and one for entering inches. As an example, if you measured a section of fence to be 20 feet 6 inches in length and 6 feet 2 inches in height, you would enter the length as "20" in the first length input box and "6" in the second length input box.
Then you would enter the height as "6" in the first height input box and "2" in the second height input box. You should enter the measurements for each section of fence on its own row. For example, if you have a fence that is made up of four sections, you would enter the length and height of each section on its own row for a total of four row e.
See Figure 1 for an example of a fence made up of four sections. Use the "Add Row" button to enter additional sections of fence. Once your fence information has been added, press the "Calculate" button to get the results. Results: The calculator will generate the estimated amount of paint or stain needed for your fence. It provides four different estimates assuming four difference scenarios.
The first estimate is for 1 coat of paint or stain on only 1 side of the fence. Finally, the last estimate is for 2 coats on both sides of the fence. This calculator is designed to provide you with a good, reasonable estimate for the amount of paint or stain you will need for your fence. However, it will not be perfect because there are so many variables involved.
Figure 2 below shows you a typical fence type that should work well with this calculator. This can vary significantly. See remarks below. Width of Fence Picket inches Enter picket width in inches. Width of Gap Between Pickets inches Enter space between pickets in inches. If there is no gap between pickets, enter "0". Enter Fence Sections Section. Section 1. Section 2. How Can We Improve this Page?Related: Fraction Calculator. A ratio is a quantitative relationship between two numbers that describes how many times one value can contain another.
Applications of ratios are fairly ubiquitous, and the concept of ratios is quite intuitive. This could likely be demonstrated by giving a child half as many cookies as his sister. While the child may not be able to voice the injustice using ratios, the raucous protestations that would most likely ensue should make it immediately obvious that he is well aware he has received as many cookies as his sister, conceptually, if not mathematically.
As shown above, ratios are often expressed as two numbers separated by a colon. The ratio represents the number that needs to be multiplied by the denominator in order to yield the numerator. This is clearer if the first number is larger than the second, i. It is also possible to have ratios that have more than two terms.
Ratios are common in many daily applications including: aspect ratios for screens, describing maps and models as a scaled down version of their actual size, in baking and cooking, when discussing the odds of something occurring, or to describe rates, such as in finance. If, for example, a person wanted to make 5 cakes, each of which required a ratio of butter:sugar:flour, and wanted to determine the total amount of butter, sugar, and flour that is necessary, it would be simple to compute given the ratio.
Increasing the ratio by five times yields a ratio, and this can be multiplied by whatever the actual amount of sugar, flour, and butter are used in the actual cake recipe. The aspect ratio is the ratio of a geometric shape's sizes in different dimensions.
In the case of a rectangle, the aspect ratio is that of its width to its height. Although aspect ratios are widely used in applications such as tire sizing, paper sizing, and standard photographic print sizes, some of the most frequent uses of aspect ratios involve computer screen dimensions, mobile phone screens, and video sizes.
